Maria was nervous on her first day in the English class. She did not know anyone. She walked into the classroom and sat in the back. Everyone seemed to know each other.
The teacher, Ms. Brown, asked everyone to introduce themselves. Maria stood up and said, "Hello, my name is Maria. I am from Venezuela." A girl next to her smiled and said, "Hello Maria, I am Lily. Nice to meet you."
During the break, Lily invited Maria to join her and her friends. They talked and laughed. Maria was happy. She made new friends who helped her practice English. Maria felt confident.
